Last Thursday (April 14th), I had the pleasure of attending my first NYC fashion event – the Galia Lahav Couture Spring 2017 runway presentation, showcasing their new evening wear and bridal collections! Founded as a wedding dress design company, Galia Lahav now creates fabulous evening wear fashion, as well! Needless to say, I was pretty excited to receive this invitation!

So, when deciding what to wear to a fashion show, it’s important to not only look sophisticated, but also fashionable! No need to purchase an entirely new outfit! ◊ Tip: Just pull out that statement piece that’s been sitting in your closet and those heels you’ve been saving for a special occasion!
My gold tunic is my statement piece, a conversation starter! The gold, metallic netting exudes elegance. The sleeves – one slouchy, the other full-length – are uncommon in a great way! Additionally, the asymmetrical finish adds further interest! Because our brains prefer symmetry, different sleeve lengths and asymmetrical cuts, like this, add intrigue and mystery to this look. And lastly, the flow of this tunic as I walk makes me feel majestic! It’s like having my own wedding train!
Underneath my tunic, I’m wearing a brown strapless jumpsuit I’ve owned for many years. On its own, it can be dressed up with accessories to also look “fashion show ready“, but I love this pairing even more! It’s color compliments the gold tunic so nicely! I love that it peaks through the high slits of my top and also, that I can layer underneath it for more warmth.
My purse is courtesy of my mother, a hand-me-down! Its’ chain detailing matches the metallic netting of the tunic. And my leather heels are courtesy of my boyfriend via Christmas 2014! They’re unique, a great height, and the gold eyelets again compliment the gold color of the tunic.
Overall, this outfit is attention-grabbing yet comfortable! The last thing you want to be is too tight and uncomfortable while mingling at a classy event. Recreate this look and turn heads at a fashion show or your next big event!
