Hey readers! Welcome back to my blog! For today’s post, I finally decided to go back to my roots, my natural roots! Ha! You get it? When I first went natural and big chopped in 2011, I was very much into styling my own natural hair. And in 2014, 3 years of growth definitely allowed for more fancy hairstyles, BUT…I was just tired of the way I looked. I wanted to reinvent myself. Hence, the reason I’m a wigaholic today.

However, ONCE in a while, I don’t mind whipping out my locks and showing you what I’m working with. Back then, when I wasn’t letting my hair go wild, I was wearing afro puffs! As you can see, I’m wearing the latter. And I’ve achieved this look without blowdrying my natural hair! Just by banding! The concept isn’t new, but I’m considering making a YouTube Tutorial if you’re curious to see how I do it.

Comment below if you’d like a tutorial!

So for today’s look, my afro puffs are the stars! But let’s shout out these supporting characters.

About The Outfit

I mentioned in my last post, the importance of having sequin in your arsenal! If you haven’t checked out 9 Extraordinary Fashion Staples for a Better Outfit, you’re seriously doing yourself a disservice. Unlike the “fashion staples” lists you’ve read in the past, 9 Extraordinary Fashion Staples for a Better Outfit is designed to give you a “sicker than your average” #ootd, i.e. outfit of the day. You won’t find these items mentioned elsewhere! We’re not talking LBDs, white t’s, and stilettos. Incorporate extraordinary items here and there, and you’ve transformed your basic outfit into something with more intrigue! Stop playing and head on over there! Today’s top reinforces sequins’ importance! It screams “Look at me, I’m fun! …and slightly weird”! The sequin is captivating, and the weird eye endearing. I can’t be the only one who tends to find “weird things” charming.

This look reminds me of a lot of Intergalactic Chic! I think the “sequin eye” and colors are so strange…to the eye…that I begin to think alien. Or even Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. *laughs*

If this top looks familiar, that’s because this sequin top was very popular about a year or so ago! I always wanted one, but feared buying items overseas. I’ve definitely overcome that fear and am A LOT more confident buying overseas now! I’m considering sharing tips and tricks for overseas online shopping, particularly in the Asian market! If you’d be interested, comment below!

I threw on burgundy jeans figuring they made a pretty contrast with the sea blue/green color of my top. And my burgundy chunky heels are super cute, high, and surprisingly comfortable! You can still achieve great height and comfort with a chunky heel! Exactly why I mentioned chunky heels as one of my 9 Extraordinary Fashion Staples for a Better Outfit.

Unfortunately, the summer heat made me so flustered that I forgot to wear any jewelry in this post. My natural hair was too THICK to wrestle with in this heat and I got distracted! Accessorizing more would have been nice, but I think it still doesn’t detract from this outfit’s cute factor! What do you think?

Thank you for reading!

Until next time!
