Last Sunday, I was finally able to make a trip to Prospect Park Smorgasburg. If you aren’t hip to Smorgasburg, let me fill you in!
Smorgasburg is a foodie’s wet dream! ✨
◊ A”Brooklyn Flea Food Market”, featuring about 50 vendors all in ONE location!
◊ Enjoy many different cuisines – Seafood, Turkish, Spanish, Italian, Asian, American, Caribbean, etc.
◊ Occurs annually (during warmer weather) on Saturdays & Sundays!
◊ Saturday Location: Williamsburg Smorgasburg (11 AM – 6 PM)
◊ Sunday Location: Prospect Park Smorgasburg (11 AM – 6 PM)
◊ Usually located near open fields! Perfect for picnicking and lazing about. ◊ Tip: Bring a blanket! Might come in handy when suffering from a food coma OR just when you want to sit down!
◊ Pretty crowded BUT lines for food do NOT take long!
◊ Tip: Food does sell out an hour or so before closing time! Don’t arrive too late!
◊ Tip: Don’t bother to drive! Prospect Park Smorgasburg doesn’t have many parking spaces around! You WILL get frustrated looking for a spot; better to take the train/bus!
◊ Tip: BRING CASH! Most vendors accept ONLY cash and the lines for the ATMs at Smorgasburg are extensive!
About The Food
The food I’ve included in this post are my top 3, deserving of honorable mention.
◊ Red Hook Lobster Pound’s “Maine” Lobster Roll: Like.
I always buy a Lobster Roll whenever I visit Smorgasburg. I guess you can call it a personal favorite. The lobster tastes so fresh and juicy. Not too much mayo. Great lobster roll, BUT be prepared to dish out $18 for lobster!
◊ Kotti Berliner Street Food’s “Wrap Doner”: N/A.
Personally, I didn’t have the “Wrap Doner”; my boyfriend did. However, I did have a BIG bite of course and it was delicious! I’m a fan of doner kebabs so I know a good one when I taste it! Next time, I definitely have to get my own! From what I can tell, a lot of flavor and very filling! Costs $11.50.
◊ Cemitas El Tigre’s Chipotle Chicken “Cemitas”: Like.
I also usually get a “cemitas” whenever I visit Smorgasburg. It’s a decent sandwich. With 10 layers, it has to be filling! It includes your own choice of meat – I chose chipotle chicken – and avocado, Oaxaca cheese, chipotle, papalo, pickled onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato and black bean puree. Only costs $9, now that’s CHEAP!
I’ll definitely visit again to try different vendors! Check out more photos & reviews below!
