It’s New York Bridal Fashion Week!
April 14th to April 21st to be exact!
On April 14th, I had the pleasure of attending my first NYC fashion event – the Galia Lahav Couture Spring 2017 runway presentation, showcasing their new evening wear and bridal collections! Founded as a wedding dress design company, Galia Lahav now creates fabulous evening wear fashion, as well! Seeing Serena Williams in this beautiful gown was more than enough to convince me to attend! However, the Galia Lahav runway presentation wasn’t exactly what I imagined!
I imagined an intimate setting of chairs circled around a runway of beautiful, strutting models. In reality, there was no runway, chairs, or intimate setting! The venue was in fact super crowded and hard to move around! According to other guests, this event was actually “calm” compared to New York Fashion Week!
Also to my surprise, the evening wear collection was draped over life-less mannequins, not strutting models on a runway. Guests were able to circle the mannequins for pictures and even touch the material! The evening gowns featured pops of color, intricate beading, illusion necklines, lace, and capes! One dress in particular screams Rihanna! It’s a perfect blend of pretty, bad girl; the wet leather material provides that punk rock edge, and yet the floral, lace skirt adds some gentle, femininity. Even more, it’s front lace-up detailing is on trend with the current “70’s fashion” renewal! I can definitely picture this on Rih!
Both collections were STUNNING, but my favorite of the two would have to be the bridal collection! Further into the venue, live models don the new Spring 2017 Bridal Collection. Known for intricate detailing, Italian ivory lace, and extravagant designs, Galia Lahav’s new collection of wedding dresses definitely did not disappoint! They were beautiful, sparkly, and elaborate! My eyes couldn’t settle on one dress!
The models were also gorgeous! Great make-up! I loved the gold foil hair-do – so sleek & glamorous! Maybe even Greco-Roman inspired. Additionally, I enjoyed the models’ crowns. I’m a firm believer in crowns for any and every special occasion!
Never-ending champagne and hors d’oeuvres are always a BIG plus! Funky/techno tunes filled the air! And the view from the balcony was amazing!
It was an overall great experience! Thank you Galia Lahav for having me! I definitely hope to attend more fashion events!
