No Country For Old Trends | Caribana, Toronto 2016

Hi readers! Just wanted to give you a quick recap of my weekend and share some photos! Over the weekend, I visited Niagara Falls, Canada and Caribana in Toronto! Though, I had visited Niagara Falls before, I never got the chance to go on a boat cruise into the Falls. This time I got to do so and it was pretty cool! The view is amazing! And I loved looking at all the rainbows along the water. I would say it was a bit extreme of me to wear a shower cap and shower shoes, but better safe than sorry! I was ready for whatever! My fellow black girls know it’s a pain to get our hair wet after it’s already laid out in a style! Those buckets were not going to ruin my slay! Lol! Turns out the Falls were wet, but not as wet as people made it seem! I definitely wasn’t drenched after the boat ride. More like sprayed in the face repetitively with a spray bottle.

Moreover, between the road trip and all the party events we attended, the girls and I were constantly on the move! I didn’t want to really tape/vlog Caribana. I wanted to just live in the moment! And I actually don’t have much to say about the weekend. I’ll say: Road trips with my family are the best; all the sandwiches and Caribbean food you can eat. I also attended OVOfest’s first Soca/Dancehall Concert with headliners, Machel Montano and Beenie Man. I just love Machel so much. He has hits for DAYS. Unfortunately, Beenie Man couldn’t make it after catching the Zika virus, but Machel brought out a lot of stars, like Olatunji, Angela Hunte, Sean Paul, Mavado and more! And of course, there were crazy and dirty moments, but I still prefer Labor Day in NYC to Caribana in Toronto. I’m debating whether I have the money to jump (wear a costume & dance in the carnival) this upcoming Labor Day or if I should spend that money wisely into investing into NC4OT. If you see me playing mass/jumping, you’ll know I decided to be young and reckless and forget my responsibilities.

Overall, my trip was okay! Not amazing, but still a cool, little escape! You can check out some photos of my trip in the gallery below!

Until next time!
